Accidental spill of lead iodide (‘golden rain’) all over the house – need advice

13 hours ago 5

Hi everyone, I need guidance.

A small vial of “golden rain” (lead iodide), about 6 years old, spilled at home. The amount is small, roughly the size of a chickpea in crystals, but my mother accidentally spread it all over the house.

My main concern is how toxic this amount of lead iodide actually is and whether there is a significant risk of poisoning just from being in contact with or near the material. exposure and potential health effects?

Can anyone provide guidance on the danger level of this compound under these conditions?

Thanks in advance!
