As a tourist; this may sound stupid but can post-thunderstorm tap water make you sick?

My wife and I just landed in FTL tonight and she experienced some very strong gastrointestinal distress including vomiting, bad stomach cramps and cold sweats.

We had some water from the tap at a local hotel bar, and very little alcohol, and an iced tea.

Thankfully it’s subsiding and I’m not really suspecting any date rape drugs, but I’m wondering if the water could’ve been contaminated following the storm which just rolled in.

I really hope it’s nothing nefarious like some form of date rape but I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid.

Any thoughts would be helpful, thank you
