Thinking about Bruno Walter (born Sept 15, 1876), I'm always drawn back to his older recordings.
This particular performance of the finale of Mozart's Symphony No. 41 "Jupiter" is an old mono recording, now in the public domain, but for me, its tempo just feels definitive and perfect. It's how that symphony is supposed to end.
He is also famously known as a close associate of Mahler, who entrusted him with the premieres of his Symphony No. 9 and Das Lied von der Erde. His Brahms is also sublime. A true legend.
