Harbordale area - Holiday Inn safe?

I am going on a Disney Cruise with my family soon and was looking into staying at Holiday Inn at Harbordale area. As I was doing some research, I came across a news article stating there was an active shooter last year and was killed.

Is this a safe area? Is Holiday Inn a sketchy hotel?
