Has this happened to anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area (more towards Oakland Park)

Today friends and I were saying goodbye to each other in a parking lot and this girl came up to us saying that someone just stole her purse and her phone died so she couldn’t call 911. My friend said he would call 911 and as we stood there waiting, we notice the same couple of cars circling around the lot very sketchy. So we immediately decided to get in our cars and drive to an area that was more lit up. My friends ended up dropping her off in her apartment complex. But the whole scenario was very odd. She said they stole her purse but she had a bag on her and she said her phone died but as soon as we plugged it in a charger she turned it on and it didn’t seem like it was out of battery.
