Heptyl Butyrate spill in kitchen.

1 week ago 19

Well.

I was being a dumbass because I got into a bigass hurry setting up a wasp trap indoors because of a wasp situation... inside. Anyway. What transpired is about 2 mililiters of Heptyl Butyrate concentrate getting squirted over the kitchen countertop and silverware drawer. After a brief argument we disposed of all the food on the countertop and are cycling everything that was in "harms way" through the dishwasher...

Anyway. The drawers got a few drips each, which make them stink of the sweet sickly fruitness. Im sure that will be that way for a while since this stuff immediately sank into the wood.

I have a wood salt and pepper shaker that were near. Not sure what to do with them. Theres no smell on them though so maybe they were missed.

Beyond wiping the countertop and drawers down with soap and water, disposing the food, washing the utensils is there really anything to be done besides the lesson of chemistry not in the kitchen? Did not find much information about this smelly stuff - nothing i found was too concerning.
