How do people get so high?

Since I’ve started smoking I’ve been wondering how some folks are able to have a high where they don’t unterstand shit, are in outer space and trip balls.
When I smoke I mostly smoke joints or spliffs and look super stoned, are a bit slower in my head and have the urge to eat a whole horse but still can think clearly.

I thought that I may be consuming wrong for such an high that I maybe need to take bong hits or eat edibles or something idk.

Can yall maybe help me out here or have any tips on how to achieve such an high?
