How many entities will complain they lost money if Florida and the US staves off a major hurricane this year?

So first, I am very happy that we have had a quiet season so far and most major storms have turned out to sea. We aren’t out of the woods yet but the temps are gradually cooling which lowers the risk of a major storm. Not to mention the political climate couldn’t withstand a major hurricane right now. We have had good luck and the current wave in the tropics will also curve north before impacting the US. This is more of an obersvational post about how natural disasters are exploited.

One of things that bothers me about Florida and the southeast is how many companies make money off natural disasters. Media companies who rely on dramatic and catostraphic events for viewership, utility companies, contractors and construction companies. How many of them are going to throw a fit and want compinsation when we don’t have a natural disaster costing billions of dollars and tons of emotional suffering for once that hurts their bottom line because they can’t charge a surge in services, or exploit the people affected?
