Insurance Scam Or Just Shitty Driving?

Last night I'm driving home and I'm on a dark road near the Brightline station. A little beater is crawling in front of me and I decide to go around. Driver then abruptly makes a left into a vacant lot inches from the front of my car. Only thing saving me was a combination of reflexes and brake assist in my Mercedes. Scared the crap outa me but went on my way. Sound intentional? Common around here?
