My sister is moving into a new house, and when I asked her what she wanted for a housewarming gift, she asked for something to store/carry desserts in (now that she has proper kitchen space for baking haha). I was at a local charity shop the other day and I happened to see something that fit the bill. It was in like-new condition. But I hesitated on buying it, because I didn't know if buying her a gift secondhand would be in poor taste. I ended up leaving it, and I will probably end up buying her a new one, since I can technically afford to. But I'm curious to know how other people weigh in. When, if ever, is buying someone a present at a thrift store acceptable?
