Genuine question - when are we going to see candidates under 50 step up for local positions in Davie? It feels like we keep seeing the same demographic cycle through these roles, and I'm wondering why younger working professionals aren't throwing their hats in the ring.
A 40-something with real-world experience balancing a career, family, and community involvement seems like they'd bring a different perspective to local issues. Fresh energy, new ideas, maybe someone who actually uses the city's digital services and understands what residents are dealing with day-to-day.
What's holding back younger candidates? Is it: - Time commitment conflicts with career building? - Not knowing how to get started in local politics? - Feeling like it's an "old boys club"? - Campaign costs/fundraising challenges?
Seems like there's real opportunity for someone new to make a difference, especially with younger voters who might be more engaged if they had candidates they could relate to.
Anyone else think fresh blood would shake things up in a good way? Or am I missing something about why the same types keep running unopposed?
