I’ve been thinking about learning to play bass for a while now, but I’m not sure if it’s the right choice for me. I love how it sounds and what it adds to the music I listen to, but I also don’t have any plans to join a band anytime soon, and I’d mainly just be playing on my own for fun.
I know that bass is usually considered a supporting instrument, and that guitar or piano might be a better choice for playing solo (I have gotten into keyboard some already), but I’m still drawn to bass and interested in picking it up.
Should I go for it? Is bass a good hobby on its own? Or should I stick to learning keyboard or consider guitar instead?
