Last month I hit my 35th anniversary for being vegan. Yep, 35 years! AMA

Yep, I'm old. I went vegan in high school. I can anticipate some questions so I'll get a few out of the way now.

1. I went vegan for animals. I feel I have benefited in terms of health, but that was never a motivation for me. I also think nutrition wise veganism has incredible pros, but a few cons as well, like the need to supplement b12 on a regular basis.

2. No, I do not think I am better than anyone. I used to though! I'm embarrassed at how zealous I was when I got into this and for, ugh, a full decade at least.

3. I'm not the best person to ask for recipes. But if that's what you want, try this:

Sautee seitan (wheat gluten, meat like, good protein) with garlic and onions. Boil pasta in a separate pot. Put plain soy, oat or almond milk in the pasta along with a can of Ro Tel tomato, shredded vegan cheddar cheese and nutritional yeast. Add the seitan and onion you satueed and stir into the cheesy pasta.

1. Back yard chickens- WAY better than factory farming. Like a million times better. But I don't partake because those chicks that are ordered do have parents and those parents are probably living in a factory like setting at the hatchery. Also, the male chicks get killed. Another also, what happens to the hens when they no longer lay eggs but still have years of life ahead of them? But again, if you are going to eat eggs, that one is light years ahead of factory farming.

2. Veganism is WAY easier now than it was in 1990.

3. I probably resent a lot of Reddit vegans more than you do.
