Northern or Southern Miami Suburbs

Hi, potentially moving to the Miami area for work.

I currently live in LA, and really enjoy the suburban feel of my neighborhood + proximity to urban areas, so was wondering if anywhere replicates that in Miami? I've previously lived in Brickell and don't really want or need to be in the mix like that anymore. I am single (Gay Male 36) but don't typically go "out" a lot and so really want to enjoy my home, while being able to dip into the city for a date/nightlife every so often. Work would be in Doral; I am not living there and don't mind the commute (my LA commute is a current worst case scenario, so anything will be an upgrade).

I was looking mostly at the Grove and the Gables, but are there any suburbs north of Miami that fit the bill worth checking out? Let's assume price doesn't matter for purposes of this, just trying to get my head around the area first.
