I’ve been “playing with the bass” for probably over 20 years, but never took it too seriously and there was almost zero progress over all that time. Earlier this year I’ve decided to take it more seriously and dedicate time to practice every day. After just a few months I have a playlist of songs I can play all the way through, slowly making less and less mistakes, and it has felt really good to be able to do that.
I wanted to write this as encouragement for all of you who are starting like me, because last night I was playing “Sing” by Travis, and not only it sounded really good to me, and I didn’t make any mistakes, but it felt like “I was one with the music”. And it felt amazing. I’ve had snippets of this before, but last night was the first time I felt it along the whole song.
You’ll know it when you get there, and it may be sooner than you think.
