Damn! Just this week, I was on this sub talking about the Cuban sandwich, and the work of Tampa archivist Andy Huse, the only historian to take on the history of the sandwich. He wrote this fantastic book called, "The Cuban Sandwich: A History in Layers," that relied on 150 different original sources, and included more than 10 pages of footnotes. He determined the sandwich was invented in Cuba even though Tampa has claimed it for years.
I heard about Andy's death earlier today and confirmed it with some of our mutual friends. And I thought since this sandwich means so much to us that we fight over where to get the best one or which city invented it, that I'd show some love for a man who loved history and Cuban sandwiches so much.
