Terminal brain cancer, AMA.

1 month ago 35

In the fall of 2021, at the ripe age of 30, I was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. A brain stem astrocytoma to be exact. At the beginning of 2022 I had a biopsy (which was the most they could do given the location) and the tissue had been sent to all the top brain cancer centers around the US and nothing much is known about what IT is. I’ve been told that if I was a pediatric patient, they’d classify it as a DIPG. Pathology says it’s Stage 1, but per the doctor, and for insurance purposes, since we can’t put the tumor “in a box”/can’t classify it, I get treated as if it were a Glioblastoma - a mind-F to say the least. I never allowed my doctor to give me a prognosis given the unknowns. I’m coming up on my fourth anniversary of diagnosis, AMA.
