What do you think about these bars that require reservations?

It’s legitimately difficult to find a fun spot to hang where you can listen to music and have a conversation. The niche seems to be being filled by places like medium cool or Dante’s hifi however it seems off putting to me the exclusivity imposed by needing a reservation to go have cocktail. Also means you have to surrender your spot after a certain amount of time. Do I have this wrong?
