I like catching big matches in larger settings (bars, public screens, etc.), but watching tennis like doesn't seem to be very popular down here in South Florida (though playing is). Figured I’d post to see if anyone has good spots for the remainder of the Open.
Here’s what I’ve got so far for MB:
- South Point Tavern – worked well for Wimbledon. They played matches with sound, but that was offseason for major sports.
- South Beach Brewery – smaller screens, but the guy running it is a Flamingo member/tennis fan, so may be flexible with sound.
- Monty’s – manager plays tennis and usually dedicates screens. Last week though, it was wall-to-wall college football.
- The Abbey – supposedly always shows matches (owner’s a tennis fan). Not sure about audio.
- Santorini – heard it’s tennis-friendly, haven’t been myself.
The challenge with the US Open is it’s up against NFL + college football. Lots of places will put tennis on a screen, but getting audio is another story.
Anyone have other recs (including for tonight’s match)?
